God Waiting

BIBLE VERSE TODAY:
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:5-6
New International Version (NIV)

TODAY'S WORD:
During the Christmas season we wait. We wait in traffic. We wait in checkout lines to purchase gifts.
We wait for family to arrive. We wait to gather around a table filled with our favorite foods.
We wait to open presents lovingly chosen.

We always have God's attention

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
Certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. —Psalm 66:19

TODAY'S WORD:
A week after C. S. Lewis died in 1963, colleagues and friends gathered in the chapel of Magdalen College, Oxford, England, to pay tribute to the man whose writings had fanned the flames of faith and imagination in children and scholars alike.

During the memorial service, Lewis’ close friend Austin Farrer noted that Lewis always sent a handwritten personal reply to every letter he received from readers all over the world. “His characteristic attitude to people in general was one of consideration and respect,” Farrer said. “He paid you the compliment of attending to your words.”

Value Every Moment

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12, NIV.

TODAY'S WORD:
Have you stopped to consider that today is a special gift from God?
Sometimes, our days can be so full and busy that we forget how fragile life really is.
It can be easy to allow little things to creep in and steal our peace and joy.

Maybe something doesn’t go our way, or someone says something upsetting.
Even traffic can cause us to lose focus if we let it. We have to remember that each day is a gift.
If we choose to focus on what’s wrong, we’ll miss the blessing that each day has to offer.

The Way to Enter

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
Psalm 100:4, NKJV.

TODAY'S WORD:
What a wonderful privilege we have to enter boldly to His throne of grace. We serve a personal God who desires a relationship with us.

We have access to Him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! But notice that today’s verse tells us that we shouldn’t just come any old way to God.

We shouldn’t come empty-handed to the King of kings and the Lord of lords. What do we have to give that’s worthy of Almighty God?

This is the Will of God

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV.

TODAY'S WORD:
So many people today wonder what God’s will is for their lives. Oftentimes, they look for big things, signs and supernatural events.

But really, God’s will for us unfolds each and every day as we obey Him and serve Him with a thankful heart.

Bible verse for today

1 Corinthians 13:1-8
New International Version (NIV)

13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Find a Reason

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!
1 Chronicles 16:34, AMP.

TODAY'S WORD:

No matter what is going on in life, we can find a reason to thank God.
We choose what we focus on. We can either focus on our problems, or we can focus on our blessings.

The question is: do you want more problems, or do you want more blessings? When you thank God, you are focusing on the blessing!

One thing I’ve noticed is that when you live with an attitude of constant gratitude, not only do you thank God for what He’s done in your life, you start thanking Him for what He will do in your life.

You thank Him for opening doors for you. You thank Him for increasing you. You thank Him for bringing the right people into your life.
